Garden Soil
Soil is a vital component in having a flourishing Vegetable or Flower Garden.

How much soil?
Our standard 11" tall beds need the following soil volumes:
4x8 ft Bed: 1 cubic yard (760 Litres) of total soil
4x4 ft Bed: ½ cubic yard (380 Litres) of total soil

In general, our standard 11" tall beds need approximately 24 litres of soil for every square foot of area (eg 4'x8'=32ft²)

Taller Double and triple layer beds need a little less than twice and triple the volume of soil, respectively.

What type of soil?
Soils that have 40% organic content by volume or higher are great for gardening. Having compost, sticks, peat moss, and other quality organic matter adds to this percentage, but this organic matter needs time to properly decompose for the nutrients to come out and be available to be absorbed by veggies and flowers.
How to fill your Garden Beds
We recommend filling your Garden Beds, from top to bottom, with the following materials:

Organic Garden Soil
Compost
Wood sticks/twigs
Cardboard or Landscape fabric

- Note that for Garden Soils with lots of organic content (more than 30%), you will not need as much compost
- You can also spread a bag of animal manure at the complete top of each garden bed as well
- For our taller Garden Beds, thick wooden logs can be placed near the bottom along with wood sticks/twigs
